why some questions are unanswered

I wonder if forums are made to share, discuss, give hope, and comfort to release someone's stress, why ae some questions unanswered as if others don't care. Then why have a forum in the first place!!!

It depends on the question. For example. If you were to ask about certain medication and what people thought about it or how to get off it, and nobody ever used that same type of medication, then they would not be in a position to comment on your question because they would be giving you false information. We base our answers on our own past experiences. We are not doctors. We are not medical experts. We are just people with problems too. If we can relate to a certain problem we will always answer the question. We do get one or two questions that go unanswered. I can only speak for myself. I would ignore a question if I had nothing worth while to offer to the question. If I couldn't relate to it. Others might have different answers as to why they may ignore certain questions. But we do our best to answer all questions. You have to understand we do this in our own time. It is not like anybody is getting paid to sit on a forum and answer all the questions. People might have other things to do as well.

If someone is able to help you with your question, they do.  As lay people we may not have the knowledge to answer a question, as we are merely sharing our experiences, and support.  Many of us have jobs and families and are not always available, but do the best we can to answer quickly if we are able.  We are very caring, and would not just ignore a question, but if we respond to a question just to be responding, that wouldn't be fair to you.  So, we like you wait in hopes that someone who is capable will respond, and they will if they can.  Sometimes you just need to be patient until that person is able to get on the forum.

Back to initial question.  I am a little lost too.

You have raised an important question.  I thought about it all day, as I was out and about.
I don't respond unless I have information I can share.  Something that will help.  Maybe we should at least acknowledge a new post even if we don't know anything about the topic.

My posts are generally here and in agoraphobia forums, but remember feeling as you do, when I first posted concerns in anal cancer forum.  Dead silence.  Dropped out when I realized no one shared the same experience.  Then rejoined because I want to help if I can, and who knows?  Another survivor may come along and I will be able to support.
