withdrawal

I have been taking .5mg clonopin "once or twice a day as needed" to stop vertigo attacks that come with my condition, Meniere's Disease.  My internist suggested I take two a day regularly as long as I feel shaky.  Then when I went to Hopkins about a month later for a steroid injection in my ear, my doctor said I should not take clonopin long term.  I had been taking one every night and a second only if I felt the need.  So I stopped.  Now I'm feeling really not myself.  I could be the worsening of Meniere's, but I'm wondering if there are withdrawal effects after stopping clonopin.

1 mg of clonazepam daily is a therapeutic dose that can cause withdrawal symptoms after a couple of weeks. If you want to get off clonazepam, you have to take your dose normally again (1mg /day) and then begin to diminish slowly (0.125mg every 10-15 days).
You can buy 0.5mg tablets and cut them in fourths (0.125mg each fourth)
