I used to get that horrible feeling of my throat closing when getting too far away from home. Clearly an anxiety issue for me. I would have to turn around. It was too intense. I'm much better now. Studchick
Yes I have had that happen to me . Its one of the symptons of anxiety and stress. When I was eating lunch the food felt like it wasn"t going down. Chew your food thougherly and swallow small amounts. Its also a side effect of alprazolam, generic xanax.
This is common with GERD (acid reflux). My husband has it and there are times he feels like he is choking on his food and has to get up and walk around. As long as he is taking Prilosec he is fine. Post nasal drip will cause one to have to clear their throat often, and give you a sense of fullness in your throat as well. I don't know about anxiety causing this, but I'm sure others can be of more help with that aspect.
Hi MandaxO!
I get that a lot...frequently not long after I've eaten.
What bothers me the most is that I have to constantly clear my throat or I'll gag to death. :-)
I don't think it's anxiety related for me however.
I 'feel your pain' though!
