I'm no doctor, but i've been on it for about three years. I take it Only when I have too, meaning when i cant take control over my emotions . I had had to learn how to breathe and relaxs. but 4sure reading Psalms 23 and thanking God 4 allowing me to Go Thru It. I deal with alot of health issues and it gets hards sometimes. When I look around and see how many people I love, I thank God for allowing me to see them another day.
3 mg of Ativan (even if daily) is a pretty sizeable dose. I feel that tapering off gradually would be the best approach...even with the addition of the Klonopin. Main reason is....Klonopin takes a while to build up in your system to a therapeutic level, stopping the Ativan abruptly before Klonopin has reached those levels COULD cause you to experience some withdrawal.
You made a comment that you "know you need to increase your Klonopin". I sincerely hope that you don't adjust your dose of meds without your doc's ok. That is NEVER a good idea and can put you in a bad situation.
ALWAYS discuss any med change/addition/dosage, etc with your doctor first. If I were you, I would also discuss the Ativan/Klonopin transition with him as well. Is this your family doctor, or a psychiatrist? If not the latter, then I would advise you find one, who would be better at managing any med you would need for anxiety issues.
Keep us updated, good luck.
