xanax / zoloft for anxiety?

by one2three4five, Dec 23, 2008 08:42PM
Hello all. I have Borderline Personality Disorder, and General Anxiety Disorder. My doctor has put me on Zoloft 100mg and Xanax 3mg a day (been taking zoloft for about 6 months now, and xanax same amount of time). My panic attacks come out of nowhere still, and seem to be getting worse if I don't take any xanax in the morning? Isn't zoloft supposed to help? I know I need to talk to my doctor but every time I do he prescribes a higher dose of Xanax! Help?

You have caught an addiction in the early stages. Hard to believe you doc want's to up the xanax. DON'T!!! It's a very good chance that your anxiety has increased because of interdose withdrawals. It's a b***h when the drug used to reduce anxiety actually causes more. See site benzo.uk.org. (Ashton manual). Do a cross over to a longer acting benzo to tapper off, tapper off very, very slowly. Good thing you asked instead of just taking more xanax, "as prescribed".
