Ok I have troubles sleeping and anxiety attacks and my doctor put me on xanax but how do i get my doc to switch me to valiums? xanax make me very drowsy and i heard people have different effects when prescribed either xanax or valium?I take them as needed but they wind up making me sleepy and i cannot function at work when I am tired? i like that they me sleep but i need them for when i am functioning at work..... please help?
Have you tried taking a smaller dose of the Xanax during the day. I found that .50 mg during the day was enough to help with the anxiety without putting me to sleep. Then at night I would take between 1 to 2 mg to sleep. I also tried going to valium and they didn't help me at all, but everybody is different. What dose of Xanax are you taking during the day?
i am taking .05 to 1mg and usually 1 at night... how did approach your doctor on switching to valiums? I just need something to calm me with out making me drowsy ...
I just got a couple from my brother and tried them so I didn't have to go to my doctor (not a recommended thing to do, but practical in my case) As far as approaching your doctor, it's your life, you just go to your doctor and tell him the Xanax puts you to sleep and you'd like to try Valium. Remember, your paying him, which means he's working for you, don't let him talk you out of it. Most doctors want to sell you on the new, more expensive drugs so they can get their kickbacks from the drugmakers.
Google Ativan and read up on it, it is an anti anxiety med but has the stongest sedative affect if taken at bedtime.
