xanax tolerance/withdrawls

by krae1913, Apr 22, 2009 05:52AM
I have been taking 2mg of xanax as much as 3 times a day ( as perscribed) for about a month and a half. I now do not feel the same results from the same dosage and I can not sleep. My doctor is switching me to klonopin will that help or should I ask about the Xanax XR (extended release)

If it was me I would make the switch. Anti Xanax. They are horrible tablets. Klonopin will be a longer term, longer effective form of medication. If you had to pick one benzo, it would be the klonopin for me. But that is just me. It doesn't lose its tolerance anything like xanax does. So can be used for longer. I think your doctor knows this too. That the xanax has stopped doing its thing already. So good luck whatever choice you make.

Klonopin is great when you 1st start taking a benzo...youmight find it difficult since you have been on xanax 2mg for 3 times a day. But you can do it and it will get easier.  That is alot, but with this said you can taper off slowly.  perhaps this is why your doctor is giving you the Klonopin, because not only does it help with anxiety, but helps the withdrawl symptoms of xanax which could be seizures. Talk to your doctor about it and he/she will explain this more.  Just don't stop cold turkey...it is dangerous.
