Hi my GP is cutting down my zopiclone i dont want him to so i am asking is it going to be easy or hard ??????? Thankyou for replys-----Bob

Please please listen to me. I started taking zopiclone  years ago to help me with sleeping. I begain with one a night, then had to increase it to two, then three, then four. Even then it was hard to sleep and the four tablets were less effective than  one used to be. I became shakey, felt sick all of the time, felt tearful, was scared to move from one room to another, could not go outside as got agrophobia, was constantly anxious and depressed, sometimes hot and cold, it was a living hell and I nearly committed suicide. The best I could get from doctors who knew I was taking them was to go and see a counsellor about discussing my agrophobia and to pull myself together. I also had some idiot support worker trying to advise me on things I was more than capable of doing when well, such as how to run my successful business, which had gone down the drain since the zopiclone.  I stopped taking them and within 24 hours felt somuch better.
I then realised I had been totally addicted to them and was constantly craving them yet suffering from huge amounts of them.  It took me 2-3 years to be able to sleep properly again and stop having panic attacks.

No problem.  Are you going to try and discontinue the zopiclone?  I'm sure your doctor can replace it with something just as effective.  Take it slow and easy if you do lower you dose.  Good luck and let us know how you do.

Zopiclone can be habit forming when taken regularly.  It is usually only prescribed short-term and for more severe cases of insomnia.  Withdrwal from this med should not be done too quickly.  Some of the withdrawal symptoms are the same as quitting alcohol or benzos.  Even though it is classified as a hypnotic it is still difficult to stop.
