Incompetent cervix concern

Sent by mymydavis Apr 05, 2009 04:32AM
Interested in getting a recommendation on a maternal fetal medicine specialist in Los Angeles. I am 21 wks. pregnant. I was diagnosed with short cervix 2.4 cm. I am experiencing slight contractions after receiving transvaginal ultrasound. I was given a turbuline shot. I feel like I am not getting enough support from my medical provider. I have not seen or spoken to him since my diagnosis, which was given by a perinatologist. I was told to follow up next week for another ultrasound. I feel like a sitting duck. I had to ask what should i do and then i was told not to lift anything heavy and keep my feet up as much as possible. I am not sure if that meant bed rest or not. I would not have gotten that advice had I not asked.  Am I overreacting. Does this diagnosis mean certain pre-term labor for me and how long do i have? What care should I seek. The perinatologist told me, cerclage may not work and the progesterone shots could cause birth defects. I am confused and scared.
