saw my baby's heartbeat today

by amg_, Aug 11, 2008 04:28PM
Hi all, just wanted to share i had my scan today, baby is in my womb, with a healthy heartbeat and all looks well.

i'm only 6 weeks 5 days, so my little miracle is only 4.9mm crl, but wonderful to see. Just another 4 or 5 weeks until i can see him/her again.

Is anyone else having early scans?

Congratulations! I am going to have an early scan too due to being high risk for m/c and endometriosis. Ours will be on the 22nd of this month. I am pretty excited, but nervous too. I am so happy for you that you saw that amazing heartbeat and that all is well. I wish you all the best for these amazing nine months!!

That is GREAT!  I can't wait to have my first scan and see that everything is alright...I'll be having mine between 6&8 weeks.  Last time I went for my first ultrasound, we saw an 8wk baby with no hb...SOOOOO I am praying extra for this to be a really good strong baby that will show us he or she is okay when we go this time!  I am so jealous lol  I wish I had your good news right now....I hate the waiting =)

That's great news!  I am 5 weeks (the doctor thinks) and I had an early scan due to my hcg levels quadrupling (instead of doubling) over a 72 hour period.  Not ectopic, which is good, but she did see a few "extra" sacs in the ultrasound.  Could be normal, but it could also be multiples or a molar pregnancy.  I am going crazy because I have to wait another 2 weeks for another u/s to see if all is normal and if we can see a bay and hear a heartbeat.  It will be music to my ears if we can.  Trying to have a positive outlook and peace of mind, but it's hard when the doc gives you a pamphlet on molar pregnancies and miscarriage right off the bat.  Thanks, doc.  Pray for the health of this baby(ies).

Congratulations!

We are also having a fairly early scan done :)  He have undergone a year and a half worth of fertility treatments :) I thought the 2WW was hard! Getting my positive results back and waiting for our ultra sound has been worse!
We have our u/s this coming Tuesday the 19th and I cannot even wait! I will be 6 weeks 4 days by then , so Im hoping to see something!

Keeps us updated! Ill update after our scan!

I also had my first OB US on Aug 11...heard the heartbeat...most amazing feeling ever. My baby is .71cm longs...I was 6w4d then. I go for my next scan on 8/14

i see you're from the US, is it commonplace to have early and frequent scans there?

I only had an early scan due to a previous ectopic, and not everyone gets an early one because of that. My next ultrasound isn't until my standard 12 week scan. Can't wait to see baby a bit more developed next month, will be such a relief when the risky first trimester is over

Yep...maybe it is a USA thing to have multiple scans in the first trimester. Does frequent scans harm the baby in any way?

i've found nothing to suggest it has any effect, and i've been researching harmful and helpful things to pregnancy daily. I think the nhs over here just likes to save money if something isn't seen as absolutely necessary
