Typically the ANA level is measured as a titer (i.e. 1:32, 1:64, 1:128 etc).

In any case, an elevated ANA level can be suggestive of rheumatic disease.  However, since healthy individuals can also present with an elevated ANA (approximately 3 to 30 percent of the population, depending on the strength of the titer).

Lupus is the disease that is most associated with an increased ANA level.  An increase in RNP antibodies also suggests a diagnosis of lupus.  RNP is also the defining antibody present in mixed connective tissue disease.

These options should be discussed with a rheumatologist for further evaluation.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
