Fingers, numb, constantly on fire, slight touch of anything very painful

Thumb, middle and index fingers are gone numb, always on fire, tingley and painful to lightly touch anything.  This first occured in my left hand but now is in my right hand as well(same fingers from knuckles down & full thumb).  It is now about 2 months and no improvement.

Help!  anyone out there with a similar condition.

Have you been checked for carpal tunnel syndrome?  I am battling it now (pardon my typing with this splint on!) I got three of 5 affected digits back by wearing the splint and taking a few days away from the computer, but I still have two fingers that feel much as you describe.
