They need to send you to a Neuromucular Specialist who should do an EMG (electromygraph) and possibly biopsy of muscle areas of interest for further studies. This is the only way to really know what's going on in the muscle (Polymyositis versus Metobolic Myopathy) and this will guide treamtment. In some cases an old anti malaria drug, chloroquine may help but you need to get a claerer diagnosis versus genric "inflamation". A Rheumatologist is your first stop not an internal medicine Dr.
In all, if you beleive in God, prayers work. Pray for wisdom for the Drs to be able to figure things out; but most of all, pray for healing. The prayer of faith will heal the sick, the bible says.

LOL, my bad I should know better!!! myositis.org What anti inflamm's do they have you on? I was so badly swollen when I was first dx that my feet were in casts to keep them from swelling more! The doc's tried many different Af's but the one that worked for me is called Ketoprofen, it is a RX drug. 4 years ago it was made in 200 mg's but for whatever reason they now only make it in 50 mg's so I take 4 at a time, sometimes more at night so I can wake up less swollen. As much as I HATE prednisone it is a miracle drug for almost instant relief, just cant stay on it for the rest of my life or my bones will crumble more than they are now, ha ha.... Hope some of this helps, PLEASE stay in touch with me and PM any time. Good luck with your next appt,
Sue
Hi Sue,
Thanks for your response. It was the CPK3 and I am not any form of medication..at least I was not...now they have placed me on anti-inflammitories, to see if it can offer some relieve, unfortunately it is not working. So far I have been sent to see an Internal Specialist and I have to go back and see her in a few more days at which point she will determine who I see next. Unforntately the site that you recommended did not come through can you please give it again without the www.
Thanks soooooo much...:)
Did the report show what levels of CPK they are referring to? CPK1 is related to the brain and lungs, CPK 2, the heart and CPK 3 is skeletal muscle. Certain medications can also increase the measurement of CPK tests. Myositis is a general term used to describe inflammation in the body. Please checkout the website www.****.org it will help you with more concise information. What type of specialist did you see?
