Hip Pain

I have hip pain in both my hips, but the pain is worse in the right hip and it hurts when I try to get up and walk after sleeping the night before. It really hurts when I am sleeping and it sometimes keeps me awake. The pain goes down to my thigh and into my lower butt area. I find that it also hurts when I sit on a chair or hard surface. If anyone has experienced this or has any answers that could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. I would like to know what is this?

Dai3symae is spot on.  I had the exact same symptoms and the same diagnosis.  While it is possible that this could be something else, chances are good that it is bip bursitis.  A trip to the doctor and steroid injections should provide relief.  Please let us know what you find out.

I had similar pain in my right hip a few years ago.  I turned out to be bursitis.  The doctor gave me a cortisone shot (not fun) and the pain hasn't returned yet.
