Excellent point about the ultrasound and cysts. I forget about ovaries since I had mine removed. (I had PCOS and a host of other issues.) I used to spend a lot of time in a spondylitis forum on another site and many of the women there with various forms of arthritis reported the pelvic pain. When arthritis impacts the SI joints, it can cause pelvic pain.
While what you are experiencing could be bowel related, you might want to have your SI joints checked out. For me, nothing showed up in any tests until they did a bone and joint scan (MRI with contrast for inflammation) and then I lit up like a Christmas tree. Almost every joint in my body was impacted. This was very validating for me because I kept telling them I hurt all over. (When they would give me a picture of the front and back view of a person and ask me to circle where it hurt, I just drew circles around the whole person.)
I am curious to hear more on the pelvic pain. This is one of the things we are trying to figure out with me right now. I have right side pelvic pain (already had ovary out there) that happens with my lupus flares and we are trying to figure out if bowel related.
stellamae80, do insist on an abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound to eliminate anything ovarian. You need to know for your own peace of mind. I am co-CL of the ovarian cyst forum here. Please rule it out.
Please let me know what your symptoms are. I have been worrying about
ovarian cancer because before all of this I had been haveing episodes of indigestion
and heartburn and frequency of urination. Still have a very bad backache even
after starting anti inflammatory drugs and a cortisone shot. Doctor insists it is nothing
more than arthritis.
And an issue with nausea and being light headed right?
What? How do I know this?
Let me guess.
You sleep on your right side right?
I completely understand where you are coming from and am glad I could make you feel less alone in this world. My arthritis treatment has gone great. I have several conditions that are autoimmune and RA. I spent a year getting sick, a year trying to get a diagnosis, another year trying to find a treatment that worked and then a year slowly making progress. I am almost able to do everything I was doing before. Not for as long, not as well, but I am thrilled with my progress because I never dared dream I would ever be 1/2 of what I was before. In the years above, there was a year I could hardly get off the sofa! Now I walk a mile or 2 a day and even do some household chores.
I have had cortisone injections and my results varied by location. they did marvels for my hips, lower back and for my foot. The deep injections I had done by my pain management doctor did not do all I hoped they would but I did get relief for a few weeks each time. Please let us know how you are doing, what treatments you have and how you respond. We will be here to cheer you on!
Thank you so much for this information. I thought I was going out of my mind with worry
I had actually lost weight from loss of appetite worrying about what was wrong with me.
Hopefully I will get back on track. How is your treatment for Arthritis going. Have
you ever had cortisone and did it work? Please let me know.
I can tell you for certain that arthritis can cause pelvic pain as I and many other women have suffered from this. I am glad the doctor is giving you a cortisone shot and hope it relieves the pain for you.
