Is it normal to wake up with swelling of my entire hand

This is about my husband who has arthritis.  He wakes up every morning with his right hand (entire) swollen and painful. Our internal med dr. said it was caused by arthritis.

Yes, and it only gets worse. At age 61 I already need cartilage implant surgery on both hands & both knees replaced. Good times......

medications for pain relief, like acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or naproxen sodium, provide relief from arthritis pain.

NO THEY DON'T but Tylenol hurts livers & ibuprofen started screwing with my kidneys. Opioids, however, do much less damage to many more organs.
