Lupas and pregnancy

I have rheumatoid arthritis  and have now been told that my recent bloodwork tested positive for lupas. Please could you tell me what the percentage of women having a diagnosis of Lupas and managing to conceive and give birth to a healthy baby are?? I miscarried at almost 13 weeks Aug 08 and have been trying to conceive since then 8 months ago. I also have a blood disorder (aplastic anaemia) and now I have been told my positive test for lupas could be stopping me from conceiving, which was news I desperately didn't want to hear. If anyone shares this view or has has any other views I would love to hear them

I can only imagine what you are going through.  I think the best thing I can do for you is refer you to the Lupus forum here on Medhelp as I think they would best be able to answer your questions.  I wish you the best of luck and will be here to answer any questions I can related to RA.  I know a little about Lupus, but I think you are looking for personal testimonials and the Lupus community is where you will find that.

Thanks txsilver for your reply and suggestion. I did post on there and havent had any response.... I was hoping a doctor may reply?? I don't know how you post it to them? I am anxious for some feedback! To be honest I don't even know what Lupas is - I was just told my test came back positive :(

You might try bumping your post in the lupus forum by responding to your post.  That will send you back to the top and increase your hits.
To ask a doctor, go to the forums page and on the right hand side are all the ask a doctor forums.  I think the arthritis ask a doctor forum would be the right one for you.
Regarding Lupus, it is an autoimmune disease that, depending on which form you have, can attack the skin, joints and/or organs.  It has periods of flare and remission just like RA and is treated with some common meds.
Most of the time, women with Lupus have the same chance of conceiving as the rest of the population, but there are exceptions and a condition.  The exceptions are women who have been treated with cytoxan and women with a clotting condition called antiphospholipid syndrome.  The condition is that the Lupus should be in remission for at least 6 months before trying to conceive.
There is a lot of information out there on Lupus.  Check out some of the info in the health pages here on Medhelp http://www.medhelp.org/tags/show/4421/lupus?center_adam=true

Sorry to hear what all you are dealing with - and I don't have any advice; just encouragement. My youngest daughter has Lupus and has two beautiful boys. Hang in there and good luck.
