MehtylPrednisolone Side Effects

Hi
My mom is suffering from seronegative arthritis and she is on medrol from past 8 months.
She started from 16 mg per day and now she is having 2mg per day and she is OK now.
No side effect as of now. But my only fear is, i heard that being on medrol for too many days have adverse side effect.
Is it OK to continure medrol for these many months and coming days. Is that she is on medrol from too long?
Pls. help my mom feel better.

methylprdnisolone is a synthetic corticosteroid that has the same adverse effects like any other steroids (Gastric irritation,hypertension,water retension "obesity",hyperglycemia etc)but it's crucial to continue it as long as the symptoms of the seronegative arthritis are there but your rheumatologist would taper down the dose until he gets the best control on symptoms with the lowest possible dose,so you can't just take her off medrol ..and 2 mg is not very large dose so the side effects would be much unnoticed ..
