He poked my skin with a pin in several places and I didn't feel some of them, he had me push and pull with hands arms feet and legs, and the gait test. When he had me stand still with my eyes closed, I started to fall to my right and lost my balance.
I thought for sure I was going to go see my primary on Tuesday and he was going to tell me "we know what's wrong, here's what were going to do to help you start feeling better"
How could you not be depressed? You have been through so much already and had hoped that you had the cause nailed down. As so often happens with us, it sounds like you have more than 1 thing going on. I know how much this whole process can affect every aspect of your life. Hang in there. The good news is they are not throwing their hands up in the air and giving up. Keep us posted and remember you have friends here who care and understand.
Thank you! After I posted that, I started joking and told my husband "I finally have my Dr. House!" I'm trying to keep my spirits up, but it's been a long road. The symptoms have been going on at the very least 12 years, been searching for a diagnosis since early 2002.
And since my sister also has the neurological symptoms (she just had all the tests I'll be getting) I'm concerned that it's a hereditary disorder and it will only get progressively worse.
I get the thyroid ultrasound and all blood and urine tests tomorrow and see my primary Tuesday. Maybe he can shed some light on what the neuro is looking for.
Nothing is as helpful as a sense of humor and a supportive spouse. I understand how scary it is to not know what is going on. The tests that get ordered are scary, too.
About your doc - you better watch it or we will all be asking for his # and coming to visit you as I don't know a single undiagnosed person who does not long for a "Dr. House" but who is willing to see you before you are at death's door :) My mother and I joked about that often.
Hang in there and keep us posted!
