Not sure what to do!

Not sure what to do!

I am currently having extreme joint pain. I have had it for over 2 days with not much relief. I am already taking percocet for low back pain but I also have recently went to my Internal MD for a complete physical. I have been having some joint pain but nothing like this for this long and he did a complete physical with complete fasting blood work to check for RA which has come back negative. I do not understand that on Wednesday 2 days ago my back started hurting so bad I had to go home and since then I have joint pain in hips, shoulders, hands and wrists that I can hardly do anything. I sat in the tub with jacuzzi on for 30 minutes to just help get some relief but it is coming back and hard. I am really confused and a little scared. I do not know if I should go to the ER or at least see a Dr. on Monday morning. I am really CONFUSED! Can anyone help with their experience? Please!
Thanks,

See a doctor.  Some issues don't always show up in your bloodwork and when you are in distress like this they are more likely to be able to find a diagnosis.  If you go to the ER you might be able to get some of the tests done quicker.  Please come back and let us know how you do.

I agree you need to see a doctor.  some of your symptoms sound like it may be fibromyalgia, but they docs will rule other things out before giving that diagnosis.  Going to the ER may help, but you'll also need to see your regular physician.  The ER will be able to do some tests, but they won't do EVERY test that you probably need simply because they ARE and ER and they are concerned with urgent/emergency causes for your pain.  They may, though, be able to get your pain under better control so that you'd be able to wait to see your primary doctor on Monday.  If you do go to the ER, I would suggest requesting a copy of the results of any tests/x-rays, etc., that they may do there so you can take them to your regular doctor.  It may elminate having to have the same tests redone (also possibly elminating your insurance questioning why you're having them redone so soon).  I would also suggest you ask your doctor to recommend a rheumatologist - quite often they can help find a diagnosis for joint/muscle pain better than a primary care doctor can.

Do please keep us posted and I hope you feel better!
