Further evaluation can be considered if the pain continues and radiates as you describe.
An MRI of the cervical spine can be considered to rule out a herniated disk. In addition, you can consider nerve conduction studies to determine if there is a pinched nerve.
Surgical therapy can be considered if herniation is present. Otherwise, physical therapy, or a referral to a physiatrist (rehabilitation MD), can be considered if the tests continue to be non-revealing.
These options can be discussed with your personal physician.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
