Phantom pain?

I've had three procedures performed on my right knee...  One- partial ACL reconstruction in 1987, Two-  Arthroscopy (and ) Three- Full ACL reconstruction in 1999...  Is there anything I can do to relieve phantom pain without medication?  I've weaned myself off prescription meds, but haven't been able to sleep well for years.  I always feel like my knee is "out of joint" when I'm laying down...  can you help?

Sounds like you need a really good physical therapist.  Most knee pain comes from the muscles supporting your knee being weak, and/ or knee cap is out of alignment, amongst other symptoms.  A good PT will be able to diagnos and treat your problem.

It could also be nerve pain, and that is a different story.  But if the PT doesnt help go see a Pain Specialist about the nerve pain.

Good luck

Jendo gave some great advice there and I have to agree.  I would add that you may want to check with your doctor, maybe have a MRI to be sure there is nothing else going on there.
