Psoriatic arthritis - breast pain

In my late twenties. Have had bouts of sacroilitis (since 4-5 years), iritis (2 years), parsplanitis (1 episode 10 years ago), and have psoriasis (off and on). HLA-B27 positive. Rheumatologist's diagnosis: psoriatic arthritis.

Recently I started developing severe pain in my ribs on the right hand side and was gasping for breath. My ESR was high but chest x-rays were normal and the doctor prescribed NSAIDs. The pain reduced and my symptoms disappeared. Again, for the past 20 days I have had severe pain in my right breast. Dont have any breathing difficulty. It is just excruciating pain. I don't have lumps or visible signs of inflammation, but my breast feels heavier than usual. This seems unrelated to my menstrual cycle. Could this be related to my arthritis in any way? What kind of tests should I be looking to undergo? Given my medical history, are there greater risks of cancer? My OBGYN has referred me to an oncologist.

Hello, first, let me say that I am sorry to hear of your pain experience...I will not say this as a concrete answer to your problem...but I have PsA also and have had several episodes of the type of breast/side pain you describe.  The last time I visited the ER with this...I was told the pain and inability to take a deep breath without "knife-like pains  cutting though my body", was a form of pleuresy due to inflammation from arthritis.  This was about 5 years ago and I wasn't diagnosed with PsA until November 2007.  In short, I believe that from your description, you may be experiencing the same thing...While I know this dosen't solve your problem, I wanted you to know that you're not alone...I will be thinking of you and sending good, warm thoughts your way.
