It certainly may be related to the RA, but many other causes can

herniatedHerniated nucleus pulposus disk or muscle
strainStrains can
leadLead poisoning to the symptoms.
Obtaining imaging of the back with plain films and/or an MRI should be considered for further evaluation.
If the pain continues, treatment can be aimed at the underlying cause (perhaps found with the imaging studies). Further consultation can be done with an orthopedist or physiatrist.
