RF factor and high sed rate

Hi, I just had some bloodwork done and it came in with a sed rate of 54 and RF factor of 8.5. Does this mean I could have arthritis.  I do also think I have a torn rotator cuff that but has not be confirmed.  Could this cause the sed rate to be high?  Also with having a RF factor of 8.5 mean I have a positive RF factor or does it have to be over 14 to be considered positive.  Thank you

Pat

I can relate to a lot of what you wrote.  I am sorry to have the company :)
I am not a doctor but I do think it is possible your other problems are contributing to your elevated sed rate.  Is it pain that keeps you from sleeping?  Have you seen a neuro about your hands and legs going to sleep?

My hands are sore all the time and after sitting for any length of time im stiff and takes me a minute to get going. The front of my legs and my hands go to sleep.  Im unable to sleep most of the time.  My lower back hurts all the time.  I was told I had DDD in  my back.  Could my arm and lower back be the cause of a high sed rate of 54.  Thank you for your help.

Your RF factor is considered within normal range as long as it is under 10 so that is a good sign.  Your sed rate is definitely elevated but lots of things can influence that.  What symptoms do you have besides the rotator cuff?
