I have severe Osteo Arthritis in my both my hands. Though I have lumps on all my fingers, the worst part is the Basal Thumb Joint of my right hand. It has progressed dramatically since last seeing the Rheumatologist, leaving my right hand disfigured, and swollen. It is painful to the point the typing and writing hurt so badly, I have learned how to write with my left hand. Years ago, my Mom had this same thing. What they did then, was remove the Basal Thumb joint, and rig it with a rubber band type thing so she could still use her thumb. I'm hoping there is more options to offer these days. My next appointment with the Rheumatologist is March 6th. I just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with this.
