Synvisc injections for ankle

I am in the Balto/Wash area looking for an orthopedic doctor who will inject "off label" synvisc for ankle arthritis.
I have talke to many docs and not one of them so far is using this for the ankle, only knees.  I read that people
are having this done.  Can anyone direct me to a doc. or orthopedic group anywhere?  I'm willing to travel for
this treatment.  Also, if anyone and tell me what their results have been.

Thank you

I am reading your post in March 2017....and asking the same question. I had double arthroscopic surgery on both ankles this summer but looking  at double joint replacement in the next few years.   Looking for alternative procedures to push the surgery off as long as possible. Please email me directly (***@****) with any information you have.  I am in th Phil's area.

Sorry, I for one don't know of anyone who's doing this. Keep in mind that like the wrist, the ankle joint is made up of many small bones and joints in the hindfoot and degeneration in any of them could lead to what feels like ankle pain.

I had degeneration in the talo-navicular joint in the hindfoot. For a while a custom-made, articulated ankle brace helped. It allowed my ankle to flex up and down to walk normally, but didn't allow my foot to roll side to side, which is what caused the pain. Eventually I had surgery to insert a couple of pins that do internally what the ankle brace was doing externally. It worked extremely well and I have very little pain in that foot at all any more. Sometimes, surgery IS the best answer for excruciating pain.

Good luck finding someone to help you!
