Unexplained Joint Pain

For the past year or so my joints have been giving me increasing trouble and pain.  The pain has been primarily in the hips, ankles, right big toe, shoulder, behind the knees, and hands.  I am a 39 year old male and I feel like I am 60!  the strange part is that the pain in the hands is aggrevated by turning door handles and gripping items (I get pain and a grinding sensation like the joints are moving)...it doesn't happen every time but at least a couple of times a day.  The pain in the ankles/toes, hip, and behind the knees comes and goes, however it does seem to be aggrevated by exercise....My shins hurt to run also.  A knee may hurt for a day or two, then be good for a couple of days, then get bad again.  For example, my left hip a couple of days ago was so sore it gave me difficulty walking or putting pressure on it.  However, three days later I was running and playing softball on it with no pain whatsoever (except in my shins and ankles).  In addition, all of my joints crack severly most of the time even with the most basic of movements.

I have seen my internal medicine doctor a few times, he drew blood and tested for all the arhtrhitis, lupus, etc....all tests came back very normal.  I have no outward signs of inflamation or redness, but I do have many sore trigger points that my doctor can touch and they are very sore.  I do have severe allergies and have been getting shots for 1.5 years for them....not sure if that could be playing any role...I am also a very stressfull person by nature.  I am getting very frustrated as my quality of life is deterioating and I feel I am aging too fast.  I have tried multiple pain medications, both oral and injections but with no luck.

Any idea, suggestions, please help!

Yes, I was tested for lyme disease, results were negative...
No infections whatsoever.  I'll go see a rheumatologist.

You may want to be tested again.  have they screened you for Lyme disease?  There are many different forms of arthritis.  You should ask for a full panel to be run.  Also, even when you are negative for antibodies, it is still possible to have a condition.  Sero negative RA, for example.  Prior to symptoms, did you have an infection of any kind?
