Yes, I take omniprazole before I take my meds as the plaquenil and naproxen that I take both upset my stomach.  While omniprazole is available over the counter, your doctor can prescribe a higher strength.  In the mean time I suggest keeping sprite and crackers on hand at all times.

I appreciate your kind words and I am glad you feel welcome and comfortable here.  I did finally get some sleep, but all at the wrong times so I took an ambien last night and think I am back on track.  You keep hanging in there.  I know, for me, the time I waited to find out if a treatment would work was worse than waiting for christmas when I was a child - by far the longest time of my life.  Pain does that to us.  You keep hanging in there because that day will come when you have a true blue pain free day.

Hey! I'm glad your pain is under control but sorry about getting less sleep. Wroking weird hours can cause you to have weird sleep pattern. I just wanted to know how you were doing because you are always helping everyone fit right it and make us all feel we have a friend even though we are miles apart. I thank you from the bottom of my heart just for reading what I post and to take the time to read and write back. Well so far no real bad side effect from taking the Planquiel but it is to soon to tell I know I have to give it 3 months to notice anything. I still in pain so i'm being pateince to see if this work or do I have to try something else. Well take care and i hope you get some sleep soon!!

Hey!  I just checked back cause I thought, "I wonder if diva has posted?"
Things are going ok here.  I have worked really weird hours this week so my insomnia is in rare form.
Canes are wonderful.  I have a small collection and keep a collapsible one in my car for emergencies.
Since I had injections in my back 4 weeks ago I have been mostly pain-free.  I still have limitations, endurance, fatigue, insomnia..., but the pain is largely under control.  I have noticed that, since I have worked awful hours this week, I have had more pain than I have been in up until then.  There is definitely a connection to sleep.
Keep hanging in there and know that I am sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

Well thank you for being there for me in my time of need. Today will be my first dose of Plaquenil so I have to give it 3 months to work so i don't know I just dont like side effects but I know all meds come with some nasty side effects. If that don't work yes I will be going 2 Methotrexate so yes I will be needing your advice.

I started with plaquenil too.  This is where patience comes in.  I found the time it took to get my meds on the right track excrutiating.  If the plaquenil is not working in 3 months, the "M" drug is likely methotrexate (MTX).  I am on it and take the injections (fewer side effects than the pill form.)  See how you do and I will be happy to answer any questions you have on MTX if it looks like you need it.  I hope that the plaquenil helps you enough as I want you to have relief as soon as possible.  Hang in there!

Well I went to see my Rheumy Doc today and he explain lots of thing to me and my wife. I have several of things going on and the two most I is Lupus and Rheumatiod Arthritis that is both of my diagnois and my iron is low so he gave me a iron pill to take everyday and I have to take Plaquenil twice a day but it won't start to work until 3 months to work so I have to be patience with it. If that don't work we will start with something that starts with a M it's the meds game we have to play to see what will work for you. I'm a little sad today but I will get thru this I know I will. Well I just wanted to let everyone know how my doc visit went and the meds I will start on. If u know anything about this meds please give me any info about it.

Yeah!  I am smiling big to read that you had a good birthday and to see that your cheering up some.  I know it can be hard to look on the sunny side of things especially when you hurt.  I do think that if you can get into that state of mind it does help you cope with the pain.  Not always easy to focus on other things when the pain is screaming to be the center of attention!  You keep hanging in there.  Your doctor appointment is almost here and I am anxious to hear what your first steps will be.

Try to have a happy birthday.  I encourage you to focus on the little victories, the things you can do and try to enjoy the day.
I know it does not feel fair to be so young and feel so old.  It hurts when we have to depend on others to do things for us that we use to be able to do for ourselves including help standing up.  Some days I honestly had to pick between getting dressed and taking a shower because I did not have enough energy to do both!  (thank goodness I did not leave the house on those days.)
Things will get better but it takes time.  From the time they diagnosed me until I began to be able to function somewhat like I use to was 1 year.  It took that long because of all the different meds and dosages and combinations they had to try to get me relief.  I hope you have success sooner than that!  It is possible.
Let us know how things go Monday and what treatment you will start on.  Good luck!
