Voltaren (Diclofenac) and Vitreous Floaters

Has anyone here developed vitreous floaters in their eyes while taking the medication Voltaren (Diclofenac)? I have developed some in my left eye. On the marketing material it states that some people taking the medication have been known to have developed floaters, but it wasn't during the drug trials and it was less than 1% of the people taking it.

It was enough people that my Ophthalmologist agreed with my decision to discontinue the med, but it worked so well for me I just wanted to double check to see if this happened to other people. I can't tolerate any other prescription NSAID. I am running out of options, but I don't want anymore floaters!!!

Keep on the docs.  Just because tests come back negative does not mean something is not going on.  The symptoms you are experiencing are real and the docs need to keep checking things out until they find out what it is.  Have you had MRIs?  Hang in there!  The diagnosis process can be long for some of us.  Mine was 2 years and I have talked to some folks who went 10 years or more.
Re: the Voltaren, for what it is worth, I think I would make the same choice.  I hope it works out for you!

Ha ha ha! I guess we'll never know about the ****. Anyhow, I've tried just about every NSAID known to man and the Votaren was the best for me. I've seen an ophthalmologist and I think I'll be ok. If I notice an increase in the floaters I'll let him know and stop it again.

I don't know what I'll do if I have to stop taking the Voltaren though. The pain I have been in is horrible. My shoulder will swell up like a balloon and my facet arthritis too and my foot and leg will go numb and I'll be completely miserable. I can't believe my test results come back negative for any inflammatory diseases. I must be right on the border or something because I can't manage without a NSAID of some sort or an occasional cortisone injection in my back. It's really quite irritating. Thanks for your input.

Not sure why the ***** showed up either.  I will ask about that as I could not think of any expletive that really fit there :)
Are there any other meds you can try besides the Voltaren?  Just in case it is not a coincidence, I'd suggest you talk to your doctor and pharmacist to see what other options there are.  It is a sad truth that all the meds have side effects and we have to way the benefits against the risks and rewards.  Please keep us posted with how you are doing and which path you take.

Thanks for responding. I have decided to go back on the voltaren. I have had such a hard time with inflammation and an increase in pain since I stopped taking it, and I am inclined to believe now that the floaters appearing in my eye is more of a sad coincidence that just happened to coincide with my **************. I am sure it's just a natural process.

Sorry to read you have the floaters.  I have them too but not associated with that med.  Irritating little things, aren't they?  Sometimes it's like being stuck with confetti in the eye.  Mine come and go, but they are awfully distracting when they show up.
