Im sorry you experience that! I feel that heaviness your talking about, its hard to control my neck sometimes. Most times its hard to hold my head straight forward, I feel like it moves upward a little bit where I have to move it down to look normal, I dont know if this makes any sense at all, but it bothers my shoulders, because of the way my neck sits. What do you do for it, is there anything that helps, thats worked for you?

I have severe arthritis in my neck - when I move my neck back and forth or side to side you can hear it crunch. (Anyone near me can hear it) Because of the degenerative discs
my head feels as though it is to heavy for my shoulder and not real obvious is the fact
that my head protrudes forward like a chicken..... Thats what my arthritis in the neck is like.....plus burning and aching shoulders...Hope this helps some.

Thank you for the response! I know, I guess I have to go to the doctor or look it up online. Ever since a car accident about three years ago, its hard to turn my head to the left sometimes and I feel soreness and knots below my neck. I had an x-ray done quite awhile ago, way before I even got in the accident, and the chiropracter said it looks like I have signs of arthritis and may possibly have it in the future he said nothing to worry about now, but now its really starting to bother me, I was hoping it was just that I sleep the wrong way, but I dont know its been feeling like this for a little over a year. Its just a real pain in the neck!Literally!! I hope your husband decides to go to the doctor so he can get it taken care of. The sooner the better. Good luck!! I need to do the same, but i'll admit I hate going to the doctor too.

I would like to know the answer also.  My husband has had pretty bad neck/shoulder pain, and general aches and pain throughout his body and joints.  He is 62 and has never had any health problems.  He won't go to the dr, saying it will get better.  It does get better at times, it seems when he is active the pain is less, but when he is sitting or lying, his neck is stiff.  There is no serious arthritis in his family that we know of.  We just wonder what it could be.  Thanks!
