Which Anti-inflamitory is best for a sensitive stomach?

Getting tests done to see if I have arthritis. Was just wondering which of the drugs is easiest on the stomach, as I get indigestion quite bad from most NSAIDS. Any idea's? Need to take them, but need to know how without causing stomach problems.

Hi Relli,
I get indigestion (have acid reflux..GERD) when I take NSAIDS. My doctor perscribed prevacid to take with my NSAID disalcid. It helped protect my stomach while taking this NSAID. You can also try milk or food with advil or alieve. I'm now taking coumadin....so I've been advised to stop taking NSAIDS. I take tylenol  which helps with my arthritis. If the pain gets bad in my knee joints, my orthopedist doctor gives me a steriod shot in the joint and this helps for 3-4 months.

Good luck

HI Relli and welcome to the forum.  Unfortunately anti-inflammatories are hard on the stomach lining no matter which one you take.   May I ask how many you take a day and if you take them every day?  Depending on the severity of your inflammation there are certain foods that have anti-inflam. properties to them .  When I first got sick I tried every natural cure I could find.  My disease was too severe for them to work but it may be worth looking into for yourself.  Pure cherry juice concentrate is something to try, I used to order it on line from a farm in Michigan, it is used to treat arthritis.  Pineapple also has something called Bromelaine in it which is also a natural anti-inflamm.  You can buy Bromelaine in a capsule form from a good health store. If you are interested in the cherry juice let me know and I will private message you the website.   The capsule Bromelaine may be the answer for you.  I hope this was helpful to you, please let me know how you make out.
