arthritis in the blood?

My husband was just told that if he doesn't have back surgery soon, he will be wheelchair bound in a year.  part of the problem is arthritis, along with ruptured discs, a narrow channel down the spinal cord, and scar tissue from past surgeries.  His sister was telling him about arthritis in the blood, which sounds strange to us, and we were wondering if there is actually something like that.  Have any of you heard about this?  Is it really legit?

I am not familiar with arthritis of the blood.  There is a condition called vasculitis which is inflammation of the blood vessels.  Could that be what she meant?  Not certain how this relates to your husbands conditions.  Is your husband going to have surgery?
