elbow and wrist pain

For months I have been having elbow pain at night in both elbows.  I wake up and have horrible pain when I try to straighten my elbows.  I sleep on my back, so not sleeping on either of my arms.  I now have pain in the left wrist that is constant, its by the thumb and goes up the inner part of the arm a little.  pcp said its tendonitis and i'm going to an ortho next week, xrays this week of wrists and elbows.  Now my right wrist is starting to hurt.  What could this be?
