fever with arthritis?????

Can a person get fever with arthritis?  I am an octagerian with a recent diagnosis of arthritis of the hips and groin area.  I am getting physical therapy but this has not helped too much. Last week I started getting some fever.  The fever wa s low grade (99.2). It lasted a day.  The next two days no fever.  Then again one day of fever to 100.  And again 2 or 3 days without fever.  Is this connected with the arthritis?  Re: medications.....I am very sensitive to medications.  I did take tylenol once a day which helped for awhile.  Now they do not help.  Because of my advanced age I am reluctant to take anything strong (anti-inflamatory NSAIDS).  My main question is the fever.

Doctor said it is arthritis of hip joint and groin with some inflammation.    No I have not changed medications or have been exposed to anyone who is ill.   I am going to my primary care physician tomorrow.

Thanks for your response.

I am guessing that they diagnosed you with osteoarthritis which usually does not present with fever.  Have you changed any medications or been exposed to anyone who is ill?
