indentation under hip socket

I am a 48 year old man. I have an indentation under my right hip socket. I can poke three fingers in it about to a half an inch. I developed it about three years ago. I went to an osteopath who said I might have the beginnings of arthritis. He didn't know what the indentation was. Since then I've had pain in that hip and it travels down to my ankle. I think I injured it ? What the heck is wrong ?

Thanks, John

Hi John and welcome to the forum.

Search the following to see if and what fits best:
1.Femoroacetabular impingement syndrome
2.Hip Dysplasia
3.Osteoarthritis

You may need to see an Orthopaedic Hip Preservation Specialist, for proper evaluation and treatment.
Take care.
Niko
