joint swelling in hand/feet

I have swelling in my joints.  Moves from hands to feet, both sides.  Sometimes I loose ability to move fingures well and bending thumb hurts.  Feel it time from time in my knees and shoulders.  RA test were negative, however due to the swelling, and blue/red color in my fingure joints " middle and pointer" Doc advised an x-ray.   There was no damage to joints, however swelling was very apparent.  Doc advised a specialist. My blood work also showed high levels of iron.  Is there a connection to that and RA?
