naproxen works???

I am not diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis yet sice all the test results are negative, but the doctor thinks i might be catching the early stage of the one. My doctor prescribed Naproxen.  I took it and it works for the meantime but does it actually prevent from arthritis to stop the development of the disease or the symptom, or it's just a temporary pain relief?

Are you seeing a rheumatologist or a regular pcp? If you are seeing your pcp I'd ask for a referral to a rheumatologist. There are meds that can help with RA - I don't really know much about them except through a friend who has RA. The meds are pretty powerful. I don't know of anything that "prevents" RA. There may be some diets that help? Good luck, I hope you don't develop RA.

Naproxen is just a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It's prescibed to treat mild to moderate pain but that's about it.
