osteoarthritis

Is there a relatively new procedure that either builds
cartledge or relieves pain for osteoarthriris in the knee?

If you do a web search on "growing cartilage for knees" you'll find some articles about experiments being done that grows cartilage using tissue from the patient's own body, which is then inserted.

I'm not sure how you would get in on these trials, though - I'm pretty sure it's not yet a standard procedure that insurance companies will cover.

I have not heard anything about a new procedure but I did hear that there is a new pain medication called Nucynta (Tapentadol) which is a mu-opiod agonist analgesic.  It is structurally similar to Tramadol.
