pain after knee replacement

Mine is not a question, merely a response to the comments made about pain after TKR. After many years of pain in both knees, and all of the things I am sure all of you did, to include my research, I was told a knee replacement was my only option. I had mine done in 2004 at 52. I feel it was one of the biggest mistakes in my life regardless of what the orthopedists told me.  I had 2nd and 3rd opinions on whether or not to have this surgery. I had another operation in January to attempt to releive the pain, only to find it has made things worse. I now have trouble walking, exercising, sitting and standing. I have been told the only other option is to have another knee replacement which quite frankly scares me to death after this experience. I am seeing a pain doctor and I recently found out I have scoliosis and stenosis of the spine as well as some compressed discs in my back,(L4 and 5). I only wish I had been told of this possiblity. I am not overweight and used to be very active. I still try to work through the pain, but the prospect of spending my "golden" years like this does not thrill me. I would like to hear from any orthopedists out there who could comment on the phenomenon so many people seem to be having concerning this surgery and if there are any options beside pain meds to resolve this.
