Yup. All opiates affect peristalsis, which moves feces through the intestine to the anus. Overuse causes impaction, and in some cases this may mean a bowel resection and a temporary colostomy. Drink plenty of fluids, but be cautious about fibre. It is contraindicated. In the case of opiate mediated constipation fibre only adds to the impaction. You have to get off the drug for a few days and take a stool softener.
