rheumatoid disease?

Good night, For the past two months, I've had a temperature of 102+ degrees. Last Wednesday, I started displaying flu symptoms, i.e. a runny right side (however, the left nostril became very tender and sore), headache, joint pains and fever. Yesterday I began to experience soreness and tenderness in one spot on the top left hand side of my head. Even if I touch the hairs in that area, it pains a lot. Today along with that, I feel as though my left ear is swollen and my left eye feels as though I can't keep it open. I went to the doctor today but he thinks it might be some form of rheumatoid disease and gave me Ibuprofen. I have not taken any yet. Since he wasn't sure what it was, I don't know if I should. Can you please tell me what you think it might be. Thanks

Be sure to take the ibuprofen exactly as recommended. Taking too much can be toxic to your liver.

It truly sounds like the flu....but, I would do as the doctor recommended, and try the ibuprofen.  Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory, which means it will not only help with discomfort, but it helps reduce any swelling that may be causing discomfort.  If you symptoms don't improve, or get worse, you should at least call your physician and let him know.  He may want to see you again, and run further tests for a more specific diagnosis.
Hope you feel better soon!

Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory. It should be safe for you. Some people are allergic to it, but it's rare that people are.

Oh, and you might want to get a second opinion. From what your symptoms are, it sounds more than something that would just be given IB for. Yeah, second opinion.
