servere pain

6am months ago i got a golf ball sized lump on the back of my knee. A week later pain started in my knee. For about a month the pain got worse. Then the painspread to my right shoulder. Then a week later my left should then my left knee now 6am months layer i have extreme pain in both knees both elbows both shoulders both wrists sometimes my fingers and toes and my left hip. Sometimes my elbows and knee lock and i carnt straighten them some time i can not even get up the stairs by my self. The pains are both deep and shallow but very severe. Eeach body part hurts for a day or 2  then moves to the next body part but it just rotates through the different body parts. The doctors have done blood test and xrays. They confirmed that the lump on the back of my knee is a cyst but that is still there and the full body pain gets worse every day and its been 6 monthand it hasnt yet been figured out. My rheumatoid arthritis  showed up on my blood test but nothing crazy. Also i am 23years old

You're welcome. You're also the norm my dear. Most ppl don't get their medical records - or understand exactly what tests they had, especially labs. I can all be so confusing. We leave it in our physician's hands - which isn't always the best.

Physicians are getting better about explaining tests, etc - but some are not and some will tell you only what you ask. Knowing as much as you can is so beneficial. What we don't know or understand about our "tests" or DX should be researched - so we do understand it. That's the only way we can make educated decisions in our care. We must be involved.

Again - if you need help once you obtain your medical records - give us a shout and we'll do our best to help you.

Hi Again,

I did comment to your same post in our Pain Management Forum.

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Pain-Management/severe-pain/show/2757868

I was going to suggest that you post in this forum also - but noted you had done so. I'm wondering of you have a specific question?

Do you know what labs they ran? As you know RA is an autoimmune disorder. When you have RA it can lead to concerns about other autoimmune conditions. Do you know what they have R/O?

It's important that you know exactly what tests were done and the results. Educating yourself will help you going forward. If you don't have a copy of your medical records covering the last six months I encourage you to obtain a copy. Study them and know all the terms and theories - do your research. It truly will help you going forward.

When a medical provider discuss test results ask lots of questions, lots. Additionally by obtaining your medical records it will provide you with a basis to better understand just what tests have done, results, meaning, possibly the next step, etc. If you need help digesting those tests we'd be happy to help.

I hope something I have offered here - and in our PM Forum - has provided you with some assistance. Please keep us posted. I will be interested in hearing more from you.

Best Regards,
~Tuck
