tired of hurting

hi,

I have pain in several areas of my body. Feet up to my neck. This started in my hips at around 24/25, then my feet, hands, shoulders, and now in the elbow and knees. It feels a lot like severe muscle lactid acid build up but no activity to make sense of it when it flares.  I always associated  the areas that hurt to some explanation, but over the years it seems to have rhyme to weather.  When my hands started, I was mid 30's and nowat 42, they have remained inflamed for at least the last year. The swelling seems to remain, but the pain episodes are more periodic. I have of lately felt these episodes flare either including a couple of areas (usually shoulders, hands are more episodic) or adding a few (such as feet, wrist, hips) or all the above mentioned.  Today it is all areas that hurt and warmth brings comfort.  I knowwearing mittens in the summer may look silly, but it feels good and brings relief to some degree.
I can't say it is joints that hurt. It is muscle more.  not nessesarily tendond, as in thehands to type is not a trigger fpr flare up,but to work thehands, feet, per say is.  If I do gardening, I have a terrible time to stand back up in upright position, as hips hurt and i walk trying to get strightened, looking like an old jewish man...no predjudice intended...
family notes i rub my hands, feet, thighs, and arms between shoulder/elbow/wrist the most...nofocus on joints but more on fleshy parts...

Any ideas?  or even questions?

Sorry to read you are in such pain and for so long.  Have you been to a rheumatologist?  If not, it sounds like you are past due for an appointment.  If so, what tests have been run and do you have your ba results?
I had some similar symptoms.  I was diagnosed with fibro but that just did not seem correct to me so I changed doctors.  Low and behold, I have rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.  These diseases can affect more than just joints.

I have a lot of similar symptoms.  Sounds like it could be fibromyalgia.   Could also be rheumatoid arthritis.  I have a problem with my knees also.  I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my knees and fibromyalgia.  I get a lot of the pain and swelling in my hands and fingers, wrists also.  My back and neck hurt a lot.

I went to two different rheumatologists, and was given some help, but not anything that really takes the pain and sore feeling away.  I have good days and bad.  Do you have any irritable bowel problems?  I have that along with it.
