what does HLA-B 27 ALLELE positive signifies?

My brother is 13 year old and he is found positive for HLA-B 27 ALLELE so what does that mean and what procedure of his treatment should be followed?

HLA B27 is an antigen related to a group of inflammatory disorders.  Because your brother was tested, I assume he is having a problem and they are trying to diagnose him.  What other tests have they run?  What symptoms does he have?  Sometimes you test positive for something based on a genetic marker and you never develop the illness.  Other times you don't have the marker and you still develop the disorder.  The results of the tests are significant when combined with other tests and the patients symptoms.  Please write back and let us know what is happening with your brother.  We will try to help as we can.  Also, have they offered a diagnosis yet?
