Ever feel you don't have the energy...

Dear Peek,

Do you ever just sigh when you see posts and think you simply don't have the energy to get into it?
Someone who has been pushing the mercola conspiracy re Swine flu on the pregnancy 18-35 forum has jumped to MC forum. I just don't have the energy...

Oh ladies you are forgetting the long term effects that people have from the vaccines(sarcastic tone implied here).

That is interesting, and yes, it certainly wouldn't be the first time someone has "added" new members to back themselves up.  I just heard an interesting statistic on our local news.  In Alberta something like 600,000 people have been vaccinated.  Only 36 have had an adverse reaction and become ill from the vaccine, with one death.  And the death is not confirmed to be directly related to the vaccine, however medical experts do suspect that is the case.  So 36 out of 600,000.....a risk I am certainly comfortable with.

interesting observation- the post she refers to on the imunization/vaccine forum consists ENTIRELY of new members... hmm... we've seen supporters of controversial topics magically appear out of the blue in the past, haven't we?

hahaha ive been reading the whole thread in the pregnancy forum but have honestly been too afraid to post anything after my first initial response (especially after she got in it with ashleen)! her and her teammate mel are just having a cow! and the one you are reffering to keeps trying to say she isnt shunning everyone's beliefs but why the heck does she keep shoving all her "research" down our throats! she first eerked me when i posted that my friend just got the swine flu and had a m/c at 13 weeks because of it and then she comes back as "sorry about your friend, but how do they know she had swine flu did they test her? because they arent testing for it anywhere and everyone was lying blah blah blah the baby died from another flu or other causes" link, link, link....like thanks for the sensitivity.

I honestly wouldn't even have the first clue as to how to tell a credible source from a non credible one.  I have leaned heavily on medical advice.  I did speak to more then one Dr....my OB, along with a few of the Dr.'s at work.  As I have mentioned our organization is part of the provincial pandemic planning, so I know they have up to date info and they are also my friends.  They would never recommend anything that would hurt me or this baby.  I can say personally that I have not had a single side effect, and its been a few weeks now since I had H1N1 vaccine (and seasonal as well).  I still feel good about my decision, especially as I see others around me getting so sick.  I am glad you are able to be a voice of sanity in that thread...your calm approach, backed by facts is the best way to deal with it.

there's just a bit of sugarcoating over a very strong sentiment- it's a way to keep posts there.
I actually am really curious to find an actual thread where real people supposedly report valid side-effects. To my knowledge, it does not exist. If it did, I might reconsider my stance. But like I said, I am not blindly advocating vaccination. I do consider all VALID and CREDIBLE sources. Genuine anecdotal evidence, while not a dealbreaker, is worth considering as well. But I'm not seeing it. All I see is the science, and I stand by that. Like I said, all of my years of schooling, including graduate courses, have taught me to look for credible, peer-reviewed sources to support a theory.

I just read the updates..OMG.  That M3lanie is way out of control with her name calling....blind bats???  I am going to just keep reporting her.  She needs to stop.  Tired, you deserve a medal for keeping so calm with her attacks.  Much better then I could do.  I need to not post there, although it's incredibly tempting.  I don't think I would be as diplomatic as you though...

I just read through the thread tired.  Good for you!!  It sounds like more and more are following good common sense advice as opposed to that "research analyist".  Her buddy has finally stopped posting on pregnancy 35+ thank God.

Mami, read your comment on the end of her thread...way to go girl!!!!!!

It's so hard not to get sucked into this when the information someone is giving is clearly potentially harmful to so many.

Mami, she's the one that called me an idiot.  I am just ignoring it, although I wanted to reach through the screen and shake her.  I updated in the Debate community that it's been almost 2 weeks since my vaccine and no side effects or problems.  Also, amazingly my baby has not grown a second head or any extra limbs.  He is doing great..imagine that!  One or the other of them posts behind everything I do. I am not sure why I can't let this go, I guess I am just afraid that some of our mom's to be are going to believe them.  Peek, how frustrating you haven't been able to get it yet.  Not only are you a front line health worker, but you are working with infants....they should make it double priority I would think.

I'm shocked, Peek, as you are a front line worker in Health Care! People like that should be getting the vaccine with no ifs or buts!

Swampy would like to get the shot, but it trying to be polite and wait for pregnant women and young children and health care workers to get it.

LOL!  I feel the same way...I just want my kids to get the vaccine, but everytime they do get it in, it is gone in a flash.  So frustrating!

I JUST KNOW I WANT THE DAMN SHOT AND I CAN'T GET IT.

That's all I know.  We are so far, unable to get it where I work.  Not enough vaccine.  My doc doesn't have it.

I guess I'll have to knock over a liquor store and go to jail.  Prisoners get the vaccine.

This m3lanie chick rubs me the wrong way.  What child has a voice?  What the heck do they know, this is why they have parents, to make decisions for them.  She's calling people ignorant because they don't want to believe the one article she keeps cutting and pasting.  Just one article from one source.  Like parents would intentionally hurt their children.

i don't know... the conspiracy doesn't make sense. why would the gov't poison those who DO follow their guidelines? I propose a new conspiracy. The govenrment did manufacture swine flu. They are also responsible for the vaccine. What hasn't come to light is that there are actually lasting side effects of getting the virus, ot the vaccine. That way, a decade from now, all that will remain will be those of us who actually trusted the government this time around. And then we can try to take over the world.

Boy isn't that the truth.  I have actually been called an idiot and told I was posioning my child for having this vaccine.  I choose to trust science and medicine, experts who make decisions based on the facts and they choose to believe conspiracy theories.  Who knows, maybe I am the crazy one...how silly of me to not believe the gov't is conspiring with pharma companies for.....well, I haven't figured out exactly what the motive is yet, although population control seems to be the conspiracy of the day.  I'm going back to my aliens taking over the earth theory.

People are demented.  That's all there is to it.

And no, they don't know it at all, and don't take kindly to that fact being pointed out to them.

There are like 2 or 3 people posting the same 2 articles and it is so annoying.  I would be willing to at least see their point of view if the articles came from credible sources.  I don't really care if people choose to not get the vaccine.  I know that is their choice to make.  But don't try to force your point of view down peoples throats with scare tactics and articles from bad sources.  People are scared enough as it is!

I know who your referring to. She is posting the same thing in the Swine Flu debate group.  Her and I have been going back and forth a bit as well, and I haven't yet gotten smart enough to let it go.  She is driving me crazy.  Every time I respond with real information, back she comes with bizarre theories claiming to be a research analyist...right, and I am an astronaut!  Her partner in crime has been posting the same things on Pregnancy 35+, and get's quite angry when we disagree or have the post moved to Swine Flu forum.  Once again I ask...do crazy people know they are crazy?  Sigh.

Thank you very much Swampy. Just the kind of article I was looking for. I enjoyed reading it a lot.

I haven't decided if I'm going to post it yet. This chick will not let someone else have the last word, so if I post it, it'll bump it and bring more attention to her crusade. I feel her dribble is less dangerous now that it's been moved to the Swine Flu forum. At least she's not feeding misinformation to scared and overwhelmed pregnant women on the Pregnancy Forum.

By the way, my 2 year old got her H1N1 mist today. Now I just need to wait for my shot.
