Can food poisoning affect the baby?

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

Food poisoning can cause severe nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.  This can cause dehydration which can be dangerous for your baby.  IF you think you have food poisoning and your symptoms last for more than a day, then you should let your ob/gyn know about this.  IF you are unable to tolerate liquids, you may need IV fluids to re-hydrate you.  Follow up with your ob/gyn if your symptoms last more than a day or so.  Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy.
