Heartburn symtoms with sever sweating, any ideas>

For the second time in a couple of months my adult daughter has experienced what she first thought was bad heartburn.  She said it was a burning with a bit of pressure in her upper chest then her face would turn red and she would break out sweating heavily and the burning became painful.  Both times she was taken to emergency where they ran several tests but did not find a cause.  The symptoms lasted about an hour she did take Zantac and Tums when it first started but it did not help at all.  Anyone have any ideas on what could be the cause as I know something must be wrong but we are at a loss?

Thanks for using the forum.

If she has been to the ER I assume that they have ruled out any cardiac cause? Epigastric pain can often feel like chest pain. Does your daughter have any history of acid reflux. Sometimes the sphincter  between the stomach and esophagus can be weak and allow for some of the stomach acid to pass back up. This causes irritation to the esophagus and can lead to severe pain and discomfort often mistaken for chest or cardiac pain. Has anyone suggested your daughter have an endoscopy? This is a procedure where a scope is passed throughout he mouth to visualize the upper GI system. The patient is kept comfortable and relaxed with medication during the out patient procedure. The doctor can see if there is any injury and prescribe appropriate treatment.

Hope she is feeling better.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will pass it along to her. Could this also be the cause of her face turning red and the extreme perspiration?
