Help, I've got a close friend thats sick.

I put this under muscles because frankly I don't know what it is, it could be internal or external, but probably internal.
A very close friend of mine is a 17 year old female, probably a bit heavy but not overweight for sure. About two days ago, the smell and taste of food was making her sick. She managed to eat yesterday, and had 5 slices of pizza, much to my relief. Last night she had an unconfirmed fever, mainly because she could tell she had one but didn't check her temperature. But this morning , she developed a stabbing/throbbing pain in her back that is shooting down into her thigh. Walking and laying down hurts, the pain is about a 5 or a 6, it hurts a little to be squeezed but not much, the pain mainly increases when she moves. She has a hx of migraines, and takes medication for that. I'm gunna assume she no longer has a problem eating because of last night. It doesn't sound like gas to me, as the pain does not increase or decrease with breathing. Any ideas?

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

I am sorry to hear that your friend is not feeling well.  I think your friend should see a doctor if her symptoms persist.   The pain could be muscular in nature (since it is worse with movement).  However, this could also be a urinary tract infection, kidney stone, or something else.  The only way to know the cause is to have it checked out.

Encourage your friend to see her doctor if this persists.  I hope this helps.  Good luck to both of you.

Bridget

Thank you for your reply !
She actually was given some muscle relaxants that relieved the pain for a while, but then it became a pain in her stomach. As I understand it, its allieviated to a sore feeling and may be gone by now. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, her mother refuses to take her to a hospital to be seen, althought I too think it very necessary. Since she's only 17 as I am, she doesn't really have much choice in the matter.
Regardless, thanks again for your assistance.
