Next treatment after Gemzar for nsclc

My husband is being treated for a sulcus tumor... nsclc in his right upper lobe.  Was treated with cistplatin and taxotere last year and just finished 6 months of Gemzar.  Last pt scan shows the SUV has increased.  If the Gemzar is no longer working, what would be the next course of treatment?  Other than the cancer, he is in good health and has endured maximum doses of chemo to date.

Hi and thanks for using the forum.

Your husbands oncologist is the best person to answer this question.  Is your husband a surgical candidate?  If yes, they may consider doing a lobectomy.  I am sorry that I don't have enough current oncology experience to answer this question more thoroughly.  I do encourage you to write down any questions that you have prior to going to see the oncologist so that you can be sure to have all of your questions answered.  It is so frustrating to walk out of the doctors office only to remember some questions that you have forgotten to ask.   Good luck to you and your husband.
